Another day, another couple of HotDocs movies. My pal Scott and I saw an afternoon screening of Peter Greenaway’s new film Rembrandt: J’Accusse. It is visually sumptuous and totally engaging. The doc attempts to unravel the mystery behind Rembrandt most famous painting The Nightwatch (pictured above). According to Greenaway’s “private investigator” narration, the painting exposes a murder plot organized by the Dutch Militia. Sound bizzare? Wait till you see the film. Highly recommended (especially if you are a Greenaway fan)!
We also caught an evening screening (and fun little industry pre-party) for the film Objectified, which delves into the art and culture of Industrial Design. It’s a fascinating subject, but not a totally engaging film to my mind. Although judging by the audience response Scott and I were alone in our parallel assessments.
