Art Opening - Intersection Closing
Last night I trucked out to the Goodwater Gallery (234 Queen St E) to catch the latest show opening, and quaff a few pints with friends, but on the way there my streetcar got rerouted by a “disturbance” at Queen and Yonge so it took me almost 1 hour to a couple of KMs along Queen St. Oy!! I got caught in the first big Tamil Tiger roadblock last Sunday coming back from Etobicoke, so I seem to have a knack for venturing out when they decide to upset T.O. traffic. And though I support the fact that wrongs are being committed in Sri Lanka (after all, most “terrorists” are just “freedom fighters” who haven’t won yet), I don’t think there’s a great deal Canada can do in a 25 year old civil war. And I hope an annoying precedent is NOT going to be set where demonstrations set out to disrupt traffic every time they want to get a messages out. Traffic here is bad enough.
But on the plus side: we all ventured back to John G.’s place after the opening closing, and proceeded to feast on antipasto and more and more beer. Great night. Not so great morning after but….
